Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are many types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons; for example, to reduce stress and anxiety, to relax muscles, to rehabilitate injuries, to reduce pain and to promote overall health and wellness.

Massage can relieve tension, break up adhesions and scar tissue, and facilitate waste removal from the muscles. Skilled orthopedic massage can create therapeutic change in the muscle tissue reducing the recovery time for soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, and tears as well as reducing degenerative pressure on joints. Massage should be looked at as a crucial part of any athlete or active person’s recovery and maintenance program. While massage is great for injuries and soreness, many people also choose to use regular massage as a tool to help relax, relieve stress and prevent injury.

At Ascend Wellness MBS, our massage therapists utilize a variety of techniques, to treat patients including:
• Orthopedic massage
• Sports recovery / rehabilitation
